I won't be here much in the next few weeks, because I'll be enjoying the fantastic period of exams (yes, I truly love them. It's not a work)
But to keep everyone bothering, I decided to dump a little video here, accompanied with some dry and unimportant text.
Text: There've been some complaints lately about WWE stars no longer using flashy moves as finishers. Never the occasional Death Valley
A selection of moves from American Independents, Puro promotions and old-school (Attitude Era) WWF. If you dislike Chemical Brothers, I suggest you mute the video.
You're welcome.
D~
some of them really got me puzzled. Was it a perfect work, or a perfect botch? I'm not dissatisfied that the 'E limited them as they're sticking to their guns of PG programming. Smarks would love to see that back (so would I) but context is that kids watch wrestling and we don't want more of that backyard crap (*cough* Gaara *cough* stupid shit *cough*). This type of video reminds of how physical this "fake" sport really is. Kudos, wrestlers.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenThese wouldn't have found a forum outside WWEPG either. And I cannot blame them for it. There's a vast difference between independents and nationally broadcast wrestling: workrate.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt's simply impossible to have all those superstars be dumped on their head 5 days a week and expect them to wake up every morning hopping out of bed with a flip.
Even the difference with puroresu and WWE is big. Puro promotions work with tours, allowing their performers recovery time. WWE is a well oiled machine and they hardly ever cancel an event.
In the cases that they do cancel, it's because they're double booked, or the travel is impossible.
Sure, old school WWF featured many of these moves, but looking back on casualties and the ravaged bodies, I'd like to think they'd wish they never had.
All in all, one can be glad that these indies get more exposure through DVD's and in the rare case, Blu-Ray. Fans who miss flashy action in WWE and since a few years, TNA programming can always get what they want looking at those indy feds.
And really, indies offer a lot more than you would wish for if you open your heart to them. Chikara is probably the best one out there.
Sadly, these days, top indy stars are already hanging up the boots because they've been ravaged too hard, or succumbed to painkiller abuse among other things. Super Dragon, Scott Lost, Human Tornado, JC Bailey, etc.
