I can't imagine anyone is actually reading this, but quite frankly, I don't care one bit.
This blog isn't likely to be long, but I'd like to give my view on the following news article
---------------
Vince McMahon is still not a believer in Christian. The WWE Chairman of the Board was not an advocate of putting Christian in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania 25. However, several agents and creative team members pushed the idea and eventually made a strong enough pitch to get Christian in the match.
Powell's POV: It's no secret that McMahon has never seen Christian as a true main event player. Fortunately, Christian has backers in the company and remains tight with Raw lead writerBrian Gewirtz among others who are involved in the creative process.

This could easily make me cry.
Why?
It seems ever more apparent how out of touch 'the pope of professional wrestling' Vince McMahon really is.
Christian is what can be considered a hard worker. Since 1998, he's been working his ass off on a daily basis to make a name for himself as a professional wrestler on the big stage. He's enjoyed successful tag team runs (about 12 title reigns if I'm correct), and has proven to be able to stand as a singles competitor.
He has the uncanny ability to perform flawlessly on two of the most important aspects in professional wrestling:
- working matches
- talking on the microphone.
This seems like something oh so natural, though that's far from true. Working a good match isn't as easy as it seems. You gotta have chemistry with your opponent, be able to guide a rookie through a match. Christian has been doing nothing less than that ever since he's been a part of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and even now.
Talking on the microphone is perhaps even more essential. When you can cut a good promo, you're good on the mic. What is considered a good promo?
First off, you gotta be original in speech. You can't force it, it's a natural thing. Christian has got that ability. He can put a broomstick over with the crowd per example.
This sounds entirely subjective, and perhaps that's true. Christian has been a favorite of mine ever since I started watching wrestling (around 1999). Back in the day, it was mainly because of his involvement in the already classic TLC matches. Since his TNA debut, I've been mainly paying attention to how he builds his character, how he works matches and how he makes himself look good during those matches.
During his 3-year run in TNA, Christian hasn't had a single bad match, partially because he is a smart worker. He has the experience to carry a match. He does it flawlessly.
It's not so obvious for a wrestling persona to "get over" with the crowd. Faces need to be cheered, heels need to be "boo'ed". It's that simple. Some heels are just forgotten in the mix, as they can't put themselves over as heels (like Gene Snitsky) unless they get a rub from a face who is over enough to get the crowd to hate the heel. That defines a bad worker.
Brother Ray/ Bubba Ray Dudley said it in an interview with RF Video in 2005/2006.
"You can't get over by yourself for the first time. You need the help of established stars. Ultimately, you gotta do it by yourself, but a little nudge in the right direction is also necessary"
Bubba knows what he says. He is/was part of the famous Dudley Boys faction that once had about 10 members.
Christian turned heel in 2007 after a successful face run that saw him win his first World Championship (The NWA world championship). Out of the blue he turned heel by hitting Sting with a guitar live on PPV. The next set of TV-tapings, Christian was nearly rallied out of the studio. How did he do it?
He talked himself up. That's how.
Then why is Vince so certain that Christian isn't a big player?
Rumor has it, ... Vince dislikes Christian's size. Yes, size. Vince simply refuses to give you a chance if you're not 6'8 and 300lbs. That's why people like Gene Snitsky and Mike Knox were hired and were/are prominently featured on tv. The fact that Snitsky couldn't get himself over and Mike Knox is getting over by feuding with Rey Mysterio (one of the most popular faces) doesn't matter anymore.
Vince also likes to call Christian "generic". He looks generic, but so does one Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho however gets a huge push every so often.
I think it's safe to say that Vince is on the wrong end of the stick. The fact he didn't realise what a gem he had in his grasp when Christian left WWE in 2005 in utter frustration over his treatment, is beyond me. Vince is known for changing his mind every 5 minutes. I can only hope the creative team makes use of those lapses of memory to give Christian what he has worked for so hard: a spot in the WWE record books.
As a true "person that likes cheering for Christian", I'm hoping he gets a good showing in the Money in the Bank match so Vince can get his head out of his ass, shine it up nice and give Christian a push. Captain Charisma deserves no less.
After all, world titles and opportunities ... that's how he rolls.
